There is no doubt that grey squirrels are becoming more common. In most cases when we receive a call about squirrels its in relation to squirrels in loft spaces. Right across the east-midlands, from town centres to suburban homes and into our more rural areas squirrels always manage to find and exploit an attic space. Here they are at best likely to cause disturbance to the residents below. At worst they begin to chew wires that run through the loft space posing a real threat of expensive repairs due to loss of services and also the attached threat of fire from exposed wires. We have even seen homes flooded after squirrels chew through plastic water pipes!
