squirrel control

This common British pest likes to take refuge in your warm, safe attic space. They enter through holes in your soffits and fascia boards, and are quite happy chewing on your wooden beams, electrical wiring and lead flashing in order to file their teeth. They will nest in the insulation and are very tricky to get rid of once they have made themselves at home.

There is no doubt that grey squirrels are becoming more common. This is to the detriment of our native red squirrels and song bird populations, but also the chances of them entering our homes and properties is also increasing. This is of course posing real problems and it becomes ever more likely to cause conflict. Serious problems are almost certain and we see it more and more, if you get squirrels in attic spaces, given the amount of wires and pipes that most people have up there they will almost certainly cause damage if not dealt with quickly. We have also seen a number of cases where squirrels in attics have caused flea infestations throughout the property below.

In most cases when we receive a call about squirrels its in relation to squirrels in loft spaces. Right across the east-midlands, from town centres to suburban homes and into our more rural areas squirrels always manage to find and exploit an attic space. Here they are at best likely to cause disturbance to the residents below. At worst they begin to chew wires that run through the loft space posing a real threat of expensive repairs due to loss of services and also the attached threat of fire from exposed wires. We have even seen homes flooded after squirrels chew through plastic water pipes!
